Our Families

Academics

At the Greater Vision Team School (GVTS), we offer classes for all ages. We are blessed to say that we have doubled in size in the past two years. Everyone in your family is essential to the success of our group. Both parents and students are committed to its success by participating as either teachers or assistants to the teacher and ensuring that your children are completing assignments as well as participating in class respectively.

We have classrooms set up for Nursery/Pre-K, a Kindergarten/First-grade class, Second-Fifth, and Sixth-Eighth. Due to growth, we will be offering a Second-Third grade class and Fourth-Fifth grade class for Fall 2022. Children are placed in the class that the parents decide upon based on their readiness.

We are on a rotational teaching style. We focus on Science, History, Writing, and Geography for each grade level group. It will not matter what cycle we are on when you join our group because as they grow in the curriculum it is all covered again. Each grade level is a stepping stone that continues to build on as they grow.

Our Nursery/Pre-K Class focuses on play, reading, and letter recognition as they grow. If your Pre-K age child would like to participate in the K/1st class, we are open for them to sit in the class as long as they can. We believe in letting them learn as much as they want at their pace.

Kindergarten-First grade class follows the My Body one year and Animals & Plants the next year for Science. For History, we rotate every other year General/US History and World Cultures. For Geography our class focuses on Physical Geography and US Geography. We offer Music instead of Writing for the K/1st grade. We learn Instruments & Basic Music for one year and then learn about Composers & Instruments.

The Second-Fifth grade group has recently been split into two groups due to the size of our growth. Each group follows the same curriculum that is rotated every four years. For Science, we use the Apologia Exploring Creation Land Animals, Astronomy, Botany, and combine Flying and Swimming Creatures. For History, we rotate through the four volumes of The Story of the World. For Geography we teach US States & Capitals using The Man in the Map for one year and then we use to go through World Geography & Cultures for three years. One year we focus on Europe & Africa, then Asia & Australia, and North & South America. We use the IEW Bible Heroes; Fables, Myths, and Fairy Tales; and Community Helpers for our Writing Class.

Our Sixth-Eighth Grade Class is on a 3-year rotation. We use Apologia's General Science, Physical, and Chemistry & Physics. We continue with IEW for Writing.

It is official, that we will be offering High School Classes this coming school year for 2022-2023. We will have a Chemistry with Lab, IEW Elegant Essays, and a monitored Study Hall that will have tutoring available.

Here is a snapshot of our Curriculum, for this year it is highlighted in yellow.
